Reflection

Dear 6th grader,
I have really learned a lot about social networking, security, password protection, ID theft, etc and you can to. I have learned that the most important thing to remember when online is use common sense. You will most likely never get hurt online, have your ID stolen, or anything else bad if you just be smart and use common sense online. But if you want to have a good rep. and respect online defiantly use the 10 rules of netiquette. You will gain a lot more respect, dignity, and friends online through having proper netiquette. On the Internet you should only be using it for educational purposes, and stuff appropriate for your age. You should not be using social networking sites, adult websites, or downloading content without parent permission. Also, you should be a little concerned about ID theft now, not just in the future. Because someone right now could steal your SSN and then when you go to get your driver's license you could be denied. Someone you don't even know could ruin your life before your even in middle school.

RSS

RSS feeds do more than you can imagine, instead of going to ALL of your favorite websites to endlessly search for new posts, all you have to do is go to something like Google Reader. You just have to subscribe to your websites and BOOM! All of the websites new posts come right to you. This tool is defiantly very useful to yourself, but it can also be useful to your friends! You can share your RSS feeds with your friends so they can subscribe to all the cool websites you have. This tool will be most useful to me because I won't have to go and search through all of the needed school websites. I can just go to Google Reader and automatically see all my updates! All in all, RSS feeds help make everything easier for not only me, but everyone.

Delicious

Delicious is a social bookmarking site that lets you bookmarks your favorite websites, put tags on your favorite websites, and share them with the world! I believe it is very useful because instead of losing your bookmarks when you leave your computer, they are always there with you because they're saved online. Also, if your friends want to see the awesome things you've bookmarked you can share it with them with just a click. So it doesn't just help out you, it helps out everyone around you! Ways I can use the for my school life is like how I'm using it now, bookmarking all of the important web site's I need and share them with the class. Ways I can use this in my personal life is find web site's useful to me that other people have shared and use them. Also, if I find a cool website, share it with my friends! All in all, Delicious is a social bookmarking tool that helps out everyone.

Technology and Me

I use technology in my life for everything, because technology is in everything! I use it at school (like in this class), at home, on my cell phone, my computer, etc. Ways I use it is send and receiving texts, calling people, listening to music on my ipod, playing games on my ipod and my computer. Also I love searching YouTube, updating my Facebook, skyping with people, writing papers, looking up important things and much, much, more. So basically I wouldn't be able to live without it. It helps me and everyone around me a lot.
